If you have a new sensor on hand and want to check it you can do this easy test.
How to test temp sensor with multimeter.
Look online for the hot and cold readings of your vehicle s temperature sensor and compare your readings to see if they closely match.
Plug the black probe into the com common port on your multimeter.
Every make and model uses a specific temperature sensor which will give you specific readings whenever you test them with a multimeter.
Connect the black lead of the meter to the body of the cold sensor and the red to the terminal.
Step 4 check with cold sensor.
Plug the red probe into the vω port.
To do this use your multimeter to measure the coolant temperature sensor s resistance value and then follow that up by connecting your multimeter s leads on one of the sensors of the electrical connector terminal and consequently the other lead on a different terminal on the electrical connector s sensor.
We ll start with a multimeter continuity test.
You should have a reading of approximately 2000 ohms.
Check the warm sensor in your engine.
